My Manuscript Wish List®
In 2021, I earned my BA in English–Professional Writing. After ten years working in indie publishing as a freelancer, I began studying for my master’s in library science at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2022 to explore more career options. As my love for libraries grew, so did my appreciation for books—and for the authors who create them. That led me to the idea of becoming a literary agent. It excited me to think that I could work with an author to bring someone’s favorite book to life and help get it out into the world.
Across all genres, I’m excited by stories from Black authors and other underrepresented voices, queer narratives, emotionally charged plots, and unforgettable characters. If your book has heart (and maybe a few plot twists or a murder mystery), I’d love to see it. I’m seeking emotionally grounded, voice-driven fiction that lingers long after the last page.
I love contemporary YA and upmarket adult fiction that explores big feelings—grief, healing, and coming of age—with heart and honesty. I’m always drawn to romance with emotional weight or that can make me laugh out loud. I love found families, slow-burn, friends-to-lovers, or second-chance tropes. Adult fiction can be spicy, but shouldn’t veer too far into erotica territory. I’d also love to see sports romance novels written by Black authors.
I’m also looking for horror, either YA or Adult, that resembles classic slashers, escape rooms, deathly cruises, and/or murder mysteries. In the speculative realm, please give me all the witches, wizards, and magical schools. I love creature-driven romantasy—dragons, mermaids, and monsters? Yes, please. Mythology is great, too.
On the MG and YA side, I’m looking for:
-
Twisty mysteries, horror, and thrillers (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, The Naturals, You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight)
-
Spooky or funny horror or fantasy with heart (The Vanquishers)
-
Sapphic YA (If We Were a Movie)
-
Realistic contemporary MG that celebrates culture, identity, and family (Front Desk)
I’m also looking for nonfiction that explores spirituality from the Black experience or other underrepresented perspectives, as well as nonfiction about mental health and other culturally relevant topics. I’m so excited to start building my list—I never know what I’m going to fall in love with until I read it!
What I’m Not Looking For:
-
Religious fiction or nonfiction
-
Epic or high fantasy
-
Science fiction or sci-fi nonfiction
-
Erotica
-
Academic works or textbooks
-
Picture books, fiction or nonfiction (yet…)
