In fiction, she is looking for: literary fiction with a strong voice and sense of place; genre-blending and genre-blending fiction; one-buy-sci-fi; speculative romance; weird girl lit; upmarket horror; literary fiction with something offbeat about it; hopeful upmarket fiction; characters to root for; historical that resonates today; books about work, office culture, careers; books with unique settings and set within niche subcultures; hooks pulled from headlines or true stories (but not true crime); coming-of-age whatever the age.

In nonfiction, she is looking for: reported nonfiction with a personal connection for the author; narrative nonfiction about a niche subculture; using a small example to tell a larger story about broader society; any small focus that speaks to something larger; historical that resonates today; a general interest in visual art, museums, women in sports, unsung heroes, craft and creativity, books about books, curation, the natural world, alternative lifestyles.

In all categories she is particularly looking for work by writers traditionally excluded from the publishing industry.

*June 2026* right now I’d love to see: feminist westerns; weird twists; our world with one thing off; backstories/retellings of more obscure texts/non-western mythology; anything count of monte cristo or moby dick related; light horror; a haunted apartment; a family saga with an innovative structure; narratives set in unique workplaces; road trips and transit.
