Paloma Hernando got her start at Einstein Literary Management in 2020, where she built a list focusing on graphic novels and illustrated books, and joined APL in the fall of 2024. Coming from a background of independent comics and the DIY scene, Paloma has always been attracted to well-told stories with a passionate drive behind them. Paloma is also accepting prose works and is seeking any book that tells genre stories in new ways.
My favorite books/comics that I’ve read recently are:
Idlewild by James Frankie Thomas, Astral Season, Beastly Season by Tahi Saihate, The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey, Cuckoo by Gretchen Felker-Martin, Daemons of the Shadow Realm by Hiromu Arakawa, The Summer Hikaru Died by Mokumokuren, Chainsaw Man by Tatsuki Fujimoto,
PLEASE NOTE: If you have any stories that involve the police, prison, or the military and don’t take a firmly abolitionist stance on them, I am not the agent to send your query to.
Fun facts about me:
- I am Argentinian and speak Spanish (and read Spanish books!)
- I’ve tabled at over 30 different indie comic shows
- I used to help run a very active Fullmetal Alchemist fan-group on DeviantArt
- I worked as a camp counselor for a summer LARP-ing camp
- My favorite movie is Mulholland Drive, my second favorite is The Devil Wears Prada
- My go-to karaoke song is “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston

I’d like the next…
Graphic novels that pushes the edges of the genre, books that know everything that comics can do and are excited to tell a story in a new, unique way. I want to read romance that is fresh and organic, and stories that weave together fantasy and drama, horror and contemporary, and any other unlikely genre combination. I also like fun stories with a big heart and a good sense of humor– I love reading fanfic and watching Disney Channel Original Movies, so I can stomach more than your average level of cheesiness.
Actively Looking For:
- Picture books with off-the-wall visual storytelling
- Manga-inspired works
- Adult and older-YA graphic novels
- Queer love stories in unlikely situations
- Paranormal stories that care just as much about the monsters
- Fantastic worlds that I’ll want to live inside of
- Trans characters in leading roles
- PoC-focused re-imaginings of classic stories
