My Manuscript Wish List®
I’m currently looking for Fantasy and SciFi Romance. I mainly prefer adult fiction, but I’m willing to make an exception for crossover titles with excellent worldbuilding. I’m looking for high concept fantasy, and if you have a series or trilogy with lots of intricate details and foreshadowing, that’s exactly the kind of thing I’m looking for!
I’m currently looking for submissions in the following genres:
- Fantasy Romance: especially with the aforementioned heavy world building, and complex magic systems. Think CITY OF BRASS or THE JASMINE THRONE. Non-western settings, or fresh takes on western settings welcome! Bonus points for fantasy romance set in matriarchal or sex-positive societies. Adult fantasy preferred.
- Spooky Gothic Romance: Sprawling manors, slow-burn romances, and things that go bump in the night. MEXICAN GOTHIC meets CRIMSON PEAK. I would love to see a gothic romance in a different type of setting; think the foothills of the Himalayas or the bayous of Louisiana. This is a genre where I’d like to see some crossover, so creepy haunted college campuses are very welcome!
- Science Fiction Romance: Polaris Rising meets The Expanse. Anti-capitalist, climate fiction, I’d love to see romance blossoming as humanity tries to pick up the pieces from all the mistakes they’ve made. I’m big on found family as well, a la Space Sleepers!
- Mythological Retellings: especially from underrepresented mythologies. I’d love to see some stories featuring Hindu or Islamic mythologies – Djinns, Vetalas, Chudails, and the like.
Additional non-genre specific info:
I grew up in a creepy haunted boarding school, and so I’d love to see a submission about that. What’s more, I grew up in a creepy haunted boarding school in India, so that’s the kind of subversion I’m looking for in a manuscript; something that takes an expected setting but filters it through experiences that one usually doesn’t see.
I also love the juxtaposition of fantasy and food. If you have anything similar to Tina Connolly’s BANQUET OF TEMPORAL CONFECTIONS, I would savour (sorry) that submission!
I would also love to see more romances (any genre) which involve ace characters. I’m currently focusing on uplifting diverse voices, and any intersection of LGBTQIA+ identities are always welcome.
Submission Guidelines
I’m open to agented and unagented submissions. Please submit a full manuscript and a synopsis in .doc or .docx format. There are a variety of imprints at Entangled, so please read through carefully and choose the imprint that suits your story best, and mark it to my attention.
