Helen Lane

Ki Agency

My Manuscript Wish List®

Helen Lane is an agent with the Ki Agency. She is also an editor at Jericho Writers. She has a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia and a postgrad qualification in Acoustics. She lives in London with her family and the world’s naughtiest cocker spaniel.

Helen represents (Adult) Fantasy, Sci Fi, Horror, Romance, Action & Adventure, & Thrillers. She also represents select YA Fantasy, Horror, and Sci Fi.

SHE IS PRESENTLY OPEN TO PARANORMAL ROMANCE/ URBAN FANTASY/ FANTASY ROMANCE/ ROMANTASY ONLY.

She is slightly obsessed with monster stories (especially if they have giant sharks or squids). And stories set in extreme environments such as the arctic, jungle, caves, ocean, and mountains.

She DOES NOT want to read about affairs or abuse in any genre. (My husband likes me to add here that this is nothing to do with him, I just don’t like sad stories).

Her favourite authors are Mira Grant, Greig Beck, James Rollins, Matthew Reilly, Darcy Coates, Andy Weir, James S. A. Corey, Patricia Briggs & Kelley Armstrong.

She is particularly looking for an Action and Adventure series this year along the lines of Cliver Cussler’s Numa series or James Rollins Sigma Series. She is also a sucker for monster romances along the lines of Lillian Lark books.  She is usually not a great fit for anything historical.

To make querying more accessible she does not require personalisation in the letter, comparison titles or a synopsis. But if you have them already, please include them.

Fun facts about me:

APPARENTLY I AM BEING IMPERSONATED ON INKETT. I have professional social media accounts via Bluesky and Instagram, and I have a private one through Facebook. This is all I have.

My current MSWL is:

Natural disasters like volcanic eruptions (from an action and adventure POV).

High heat romance where sex is a focus in the story not just a few scenes.

A story where the MC is both gay and Christian and both parts of their identity are embraced by people around them. But coming out is NOT the main story line.

A horror/sci fi about cave diving.

A book set in the Arctic/Antarctic (she would be happy to have this as a Historical novel).

A thriller set in an isolated town (if they are snowed in, or have a storm or flood coming, even better).

A story about mountain climbing.

I’m searching for the perfect space opera.

In Fantasy I’m looking for something a bit different. I am less likely to be interested in Fae stories or Royalty.
