Alyssa Santoleri

Previously working in the editorial department at Dumbo Press, an indie publisher of experimental literature, I’ve handled a diverse range of genres, voices, and styles before coming to The Kepner Agency. I studied English and CW (Publishing), Theatre, and Media Management at the University of Iowa
(a challenge to see how many words can fit on a diploma).

I am passionate about the writing process and the excitement of publishing. With an emphasis on editing with curiosity, I always aspire to better understand the writing I get the opportunity to work on, and the writers I get to work with. I’ve been challenged throughout my journey to think as a reader, a writer, and an editor, and I like to blend the three when reading through submissions.

When I’m not hunched over my computer reading, you can find me hiking a mountain I never intended to with my phone on 15%, checking flights for nonexistent travel plans, and more than likely, anxiously baking a loaf of bread I still think won’t rise (sourdough scares me).

Queries from all authors are welcome, for any type of project.
Writers from diverse or underrepresented communities are always strongly encouraged to query.

Please email your query letter to al****@**********cy.com along with the first ten pages pasted into the body of your message. Please do not send unsolicited attachments. Non-fiction authors, please paste your full proposal into the body of your email. Don’t worry about the formatting! We’ll reach out to you if we want to see the pretty version. Your query letter should ideally include some information about yourself, as well as how you heard about The Kepner Agency.

Please note that not all queries will receive a response, but if we think we may be able to help you, we’ll get in touch and ask to see more.
