Amber Oliver

Amber works at Harper and Harper Perennial acquiring contemporary literary fiction, upmarket commercial fiction, and select non-fiction (essay collections, memoir, humor, pop culture) that is well-written, culturally relevant, and totally engrossing. She is also particularly interested in lifting up writers from marginalized communities. Her authors include Robin Page, Shayla Lawson, Lee Matalone, Y.S. Seraph, and Morgan Jerkins.

Some dream projects include: A book that follows the model of hit HBO show Insecure; Stories set in New York about native and diverse New Yorkers (particularly in the outer boroughs); A literary novel about siblings exploring their relationship through shared trauma; A queer relationship explored through a non-romance lens; A literary novel about music or musicians like DAISY JONES & THE SIX, featuring diverse characters; Stories featuring multicultural millennial characters in workplace situations; A witty and satirical upmarket women’s fiction novel that reveals a nasty side of a major industry (art, dance, fashion, music, etc); A magical realism story in an urban setting with Latinx characters; A contemporary Southern Gothic featuring multi-cultural characters; A sprawling family saga
