Hello! I am an acquiring editor at Starry Forest Books, focusing on children’s picture books, board books, and chapter books.
My journey in the publishing world began as a writer. I’m the author of several picture books and a middle grade novel, and am now enjoying my time on the other side of the desk! Before finding my way to publishing, I spent countless hours as an instructional aide in elementary school classrooms, and adored getting to help instill a love of reading and writing in kids. Before that, l studied political science at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and have spent the years since graduation trying to find my way back to California’s central coast.
What I’m Looking For:
- Humor with heart – if you can make me laugh while also giving me warm fuzzies, you win!
- Stories that inspire empathy and self-awareness
- Creative non-fiction – teach me something without making me feel like you’re teaching me something
- Clever endings – love the unexpected and surprising that still ties a bow on the story
- Stories based on inspiring true events or people that haven’t been done before
- Stories that share and celebrate cultures around the world
Fun facts about me:
- I have four sisters and two brothers, which means I thrive in the midst of chaos and noise.
- I grew up as an athlete, and still love watching sports, especially soccer. I’m fairly obsessed with the British Premier League and my husband and I root for rival Manchester teams.
- My kids are into choir and musical theater, so I frequently have songs from Broadway musicals running through my head.

Please include my name in the subject line of your submission, along with manuscript title.
If you are responding to a Twitter request, please also include the event hashtags in the subject.
Please include:
- A query (no more than 1 page)
- The manuscript text as a word document OR a pdf sketch dummy as an attachment in spread layouts.
Your query must contain:
- The story pitch
- A suggested age range
- If you are represented by an agent (or plan to be)
- For authors: a bio that describes your occupation, publishing history, and any other information relevant to your manuscript.
- For illustrators: please also include a link to your website or portfolio
