My Manuscript Wish List®

Avalon Radys is a Senior Editor at Sasquatch Books, an imprint of Blue Star Press. With over a decade in the publishing industry and experience developing more than 100 books, Avalon has honed an intuitive eye for enhancing authors’ unique voices and cultivating immersive reading experiences.

As the former Director of Editorial & Book Production at Inkshares, Avalon led teams to publish 12-20 high-quality trade books each season, including Juliet McDaniel’s Mr. & Mrs. American Pie, now adapted into the Apple TV+ series Palm Royale. Her extensive experience spans children’s books, creative how-to guides, arts & crafts titles, inspirational memoirs, and more.

Avalon takes a reader-centric approach, collaborating closely with authors to make smart choices at every stage of the publishing process. For fiction, she focuses on developing strong narrative structures, distinct settings, authentic characters, and engaging prose. For nonfiction, she emphasizes enhancing clarity and value. Avalon approaches each project with rigor, insight, and creativity, helping authors craft standout stories and build successful careers.

Currently, Avalon is actively seeking fresh voices and compelling narratives in the following areas:

  1. Health & Wellness: Books that inspire readers to live their best, most balanced lives, with a special emphasis on diverse voices and inclusive approaches to well-being.
  2. Parenting: Fresh, honest, and relatable perspectives on the challenges and joys of raising children in today’s world.
  3. Creative How-To & Craft: Visually engaging projects that inspire creativity and teach new skills, from DIY to finer artistic pursuits.
  4. Narrative Nonfiction: Well-crafted stories that illuminate the human experience, challenge our assumptions, and linger in readers’ minds long after the last page.

Avalon is particularly excited to work with authors who bring diverse perspectives, unique experiences, and fresh voices to these categories. If you have a compelling project that aligns with these areas, she would love to hear from you!
