My Manuscript Wish List®

About Me

Born and raised in Mexico, Daniela (Dany, for short) moved to the United States with her parents and dog at fourteen years old. She found a home in books at an early age, which pushed her to pursue a degree in English Language and Literature from Georgetown University, as well as a Minor in Film and Media Studies. Her passion for stories translates across mediums, and she started her career writing screenplay coverage professionally (some of the movies she covered were actually made!), and assisting production companies with pre-production duties. Inevitably, her love for books called her to the world of publishing, and she joined Ladderbird with the aim of helping talented writers from marginalized communities develop flourishing careers.

What I’m Looking For

Dany is exclusively taking on clients from underrepresented and marginalized communities. She is primarily drawn to upmarket horror in the Adult space. She’s most interested in works that explore the beauty and terror of the human experience for groups who have been historically silenced. She particularly enjoys elements of Gothic horror, magical realism, folklore, and/or mythology combined with beautifully introspective prose that leans into the discomfort of its genre—think White is for Witching, Monstrilio, Mexican Gothic, Haunting of Hill House, The House, and The Grip of It.
