Elizabeth Guthrie

Elizabeth is an associate literary agent at PSLA representing fiction and nonfiction. Before joining the team, she worked first as an intern and then as a literary agent at Lucinda Literary. Prior to moving into publishing, she had a career in trauma-informed integrative medicine, earning a PhD in Natural Medicine and a Master’s of Public Health with a concentration in functional nutrition. Elizabeth is interested in a broad range of books, but is especially drawn to fiction with character-driven plots that end with clever twists and expert-driven non-fiction.

She is actively acquiring. In nonfiction, she is particularly drawn to true crime, music (almost any genre, but especially blues and classic rock), and history (especially ancient civilizations or intellectual history). She also likes expert-driven wellness, popular psychology, and other science-related ideas (especially in biology or physics). In fiction, she is interested in fantasy, historical,  romance (especially fantasy, historical, or LGBTQ), speculative, and psychological thrillers.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should be emailed to query@psliterary.com

Please limit your submission to just a query letter that consists of the following:

• Paragraph One – Introduction: Include the title and category of your work (i.e. fiction or nonfiction and topic), an estimated word count and a brief, general introduction.
• Paragraph Two – Brief overview: This should read similar to what is found on the back cover of a published book.
• Paragraph Three – Writer’s bio: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background (awards and affiliations, etc.).

Tips:

• Do not send attachments. Please use text within the body of your e-mail.
• Please do not submit a full-length manuscript/proposal unless requested.
• Always let us know if your manuscript/proposal is currently under consideration by other agents/publishers.
• Address your query to the attention of the agent you feel is the best match for your work.
• Please do not query multiple agents at the agency simultaneously – if you don’t receive a response to your query within 4-6 weeks it means a no from the agency.

However, the process may take longer depending on the volume of submissions we may be reviewing at a particular time.
