Fiction:

I’m actively building my list and am primarily interested in upmarket and literary fiction. Beyond that, here are some specific things I’d like to read:

• “weird girl lit” like My Year of Rest & Relaxation
• campus novels that are literary or dark academic
• stories about the entertainment and music industries that deal with the cost of fame like Utopia Avenue
• wacky, over the top conspiracies or literary humor like Lost Lambs
• generation-spanning stories about relationships changing over time like Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow or Wellness
• grounded genre fiction like Sea of Tranquility or Project Hail Mary
• literary leaning romance like Normal People
• outrageous hooks like Sky Daddy or Yesteryear
• speculative/offbeat plots in a workplace setting like Severance
• any manuscript with a strong narrative voice!

Nonfiction:

If you have an interesting proposal about the music industry (60s-90s band culture in particular), medieval history, shipwrecks, or cults, feel free to send it my way.

Not a good fit for:

• high fantasy or romantasy
• YA or Children’s lit
• fiction or nonfiction that discusses or examines AI
• police procedurals or hard-boiled detective thrillers

Please email your query letter to el**@**********cy.com along with the first ten pages pasted into the body of your message. Please do not send unsolicited attachments. Non-fiction authors, please paste your full proposal into the body of your email.

Your query letter should ideally include some information about yourself, as well as how you heard about The Kepner Agency.

Please note that not all queries will receive a response, but if we think we may be able to help you, we’ll get in touch and ask to see more.
