Ki Agency

My Manuscript Wish List®

I’m an agent with the Ki Agency, based in London. I joined the agency in 2024 after stints in scouting, editorial and audio and have spend 2025 actively building my list. I’ve got an academic background and managed the reviews side of Grimdark Magazine before becoming an agent.

In fiction I’m looking at adult and YA stories. I am not currently looking for children’s books, and prefer YA on the older side. While I read widely, I am only looking for books with speculative elements. Send me your horror, your fantasy, your magic-touched rom-coms and so on. Within that, my taste ranges from the very commercial to the literary end of the spectrum.

A few things I’d especially love to see in my query inbox:

  • More non-fiction. Please send me down your research rabbit holes
  • Literary horror that plays with form and storytelling and and is deeply unsettling
  • Claustrophobic horror set in a cave, the deep sea or space
  • Lyrical YA fantasy with queer and/or disability representation
  • Speculative romance in the vein of Ashley Poston and Casey McQuiston

Atmosphere and a strong voice are two of the most important elements for me. My favourite stories are commercial and accessible but have something to say. I am keen on stories that centre diverse characters, be that queer, neurodivergent, disabled or BIPOC – and I’d love to hear from writers who are writing in English as a second language. I’m probably not the right agent for very spicy books.

Some books I’ve (re)read recently and loved:

  • The Woods All Black by Lee Mandelo
  • The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty
  • A Master of Djinn by P. Djeli Clark
  • Spear by Nicola Griffith
  • You Know Her by Meagan Jennett
  • After the Forest by Kell Woods
  • Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
  • Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
  • Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore
  • One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
  • The Works of Vermin by Hiron Ennes
  • The Lamb by Lucy Rose

In non-fiction, I’m mainly interested in serious trade books situating themselves in the history/archaeology/sociology area. I want to learn something new about things I’d never even considered looking into. For me, these need to be accessible to a wide audience by expert authors. I’m probably not the right agent for non-fiction projects that are humour-driven and please don’t send me memoirs.

Some examples of my taste in non-fiction:

  • God: An Anatomy by Francesca Stavrakopoulou
  • Between Two Rivers: Ancient Mesopotamia and the Birth of History by Moudhy Al-Rashid
  • Inventing the Renaissance: The Myth of a Golden Age by Ada Palmer
  • Westlessnes by Samir Puri
  • Stories Are Weapons: Psychological Warfare and the American Mind by Annalee Newitz
