I am a children’s fiction editor at Peachtree Publishing Company Inc. and Peachtree Teen. I am currently acquiring fiction for picture book and young adult audiences.

PICTURE BOOKS:

Fiction with clear commercial hooks and child-centered, social-emotional learning themes of compassion, friendship, self-esteem, imagination, and developmental/life-changing moments, told with playful language and inventive story structure. Fictionally-driven STEAM and early-learning concepts and a handful of parent-child focused titles. Author-illustrated works should demonstrate a strong aesthetic, consistent design, a unique point of view, eye-catching color palette, line weight, textures, and above all: creative joy and a dose of mischief.

I am not the best match for: board books, early readers, nonfiction, biography, historical, unimaginative verse, soap box messaging, or ripped-from-headlines.

YOUNG ADULT:

Voice-driven science fiction and light or high fantasy with strong character-building, literary writing, and commercial appeal. Exploring identity-focused themes and consequential, life-changing character moments that offer cathartic arcs of healing or discovery. I especially love genre-bending, lighthearted fairy tale romantasy, romantic magical realism, monster-filled dark fantasy, dystopian action-adventure, mutant superpowers, the living dead, spirits of nature, folk lore, and diverse points of view. Strongly prefer standalones.

I am not the best match for: nonfiction, historical, biography, verse, graphic novels, contemporary-based occult.
