If you wrote something in literary fiction or speculative fiction, just send it.

• I am prioritizing Latino/Hispanic, LGBT+, Asian American, and African American writers. However, any writer can submit. I am open to read anything, if it is compelling, you will hear from me.

Genre preferences:

I prefer fiction written in an upmarket style: literary prose paired with a commercial plot.

• If it’s literary, it should be situated in a historical or contemporary setting. If it includes magical realism, even better.
• If it’s genre fiction, I would love to review romance, mystery, thriller, LitRPG, epic/high fantasy, and dystopian.
• For nonfiction, I welcome works on history, pop culture, lifestyle, well-being, and spirituality. If it is focused on Asia or Latin America, even better.

Submissions should be emailed to jonathan@olswangerliterary.com

Please paste your query in the email body and send the 40,000 words of your manuscript as a Word document. Use this subject line: Query + Adult / Genre or Nonfiction. If I am interested, I will request the complete manuscript.

I will confirm receipt of your query within one week. If you don’t hear from me, you can follow up. I take three to four months to respond to your sample pages.

Important: Please submit only manuscripts with word counts between 70,000 and 85,000 words.
