My Manuscript Wish List®
Hi everyone,
I’m so delighted to share that I’m open to submissions until June 21st at midnight EST! I’m searching for awesome picture books and middle grade novels. I’m always looking for books with new perspectives and from underrepresented communities including but not limited to BIPOC, neurosdiverse, and LGBTQ+.
Right now, I’m mainly looking for funny, commercial picture books and middle grade novels including graphic novels with art (no script only please!). But as you know, I also connect to beautiful, lyrical, and/or heartfelt stories especially with content I’ve never heard about before. If you have something unique and fresh in mg or pb please send it my way.
More specifically, I’m really stoked to bring more middle grade to my list, especially big epic titles that can become a beloved series. I love humor and/or heart above all, and I love everything from adventure to low fantasy to mystery to sci-fi to contemporary to historical fiction. I would love a great middle grade dystopian like City of Ember, magical low fantasy like The Impossible Destiny of Cutie Grackle, a middle grade version of a cozy mystery like Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Guide to Murder, a quirky fantasy like Nevermoor, an inspiring contemporary novel like Attack of the Black Rectangles, The Other Half of Happy, or What Happened to Rachel Riley, a great historical fiction like Troublemaker or Nothing Else But Miracles, or anything that can be comped to the movies Little Giants or Now and Then with epic friendships, humor, and heart all wrapped into one story!
For picture books, I’d love a contemporary picture book that inspires and feels like it’s made by kids as much as for kids like Cape, Summer is for Cousin, My Baba’s Garden, Berry Song, Two New Years, or What Happened to You?, a gorgeous wordless picture book like Yellow Butterfly, a fresh comedy like Telephone or How to Count to 1, a fresh story that helps kids discover something new like La Mala Suerte, a fun series like Kittycorn that is just so adorable and fun, an author-illustrated picture book that brilliantly plays with the juxtaposition of words and art like Sam and Dave Dig a Hole, or something wacky and comical like On Account of the Gum.
Please note, the above is just a taste of what I love. To find out more, check out my website (psst, it shows all the books Team Sanchez has created!).
Also, please note, I’m not taking on chapter books, early readers, young adult novels, adult work, or illustrators-only clients right now.
Thanks so much for reading and excited to read your work!
