My Manuscript Wish List®

Laurie-Maude Chenard represents a wide range of fiction and nonfiction authors, including Chloé Caldwell, Phoebe Thompson, Zac Hammett, Tara O’Sullivan, Megan Zhang, Alyssa London, and Alex Goodson. She’s especially drawn to bold, voice-driven work from historically underrepresented writers—stories that explore themes of identity in all its complexity, along with race, culture, gender, and sexuality. She gravitates towards books that confront and engage with gray areas, challenge assumptions, and leave readers thinking differently and more deeply about the world we live in.

In fiction, Laurie-Maude is looking for contemporary adult literary and upmarket novels that combine compelling characters with a strong commercial premise. She’s particularly interested in multigenerational family sagas, coming-of-age narratives, sweeping love stories, literary suspense, grounded speculative fiction, and multi-POV or dual-timeline structures. She also enjoys books with genre elements, for the general reader. Above all, she loves stories that are as funny as they are moving. Some of her favorite books include AMERICANAH by Chimimanda Ngozie Adichie, TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW by Gabrielle Zevin, MARTYR! by Kaveh Akbar, A TALE FOR THE TIME BEING by Ruth Ozeki, THE GOD OF THE WOODS by Liz Moore, and HEART THE LOVER by Lily King.

For nonfiction, she has a soft spot for deeply personal memoirs that grapple with larger cultural, social, and emotional questions such as CRYING IN H MART by Michelle Zauner, KNOW MY NAME by Chanel Miller, IN THE DREAM HOUSE by Carmen María Machado, and THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING by Joan Didion. She is also interested in expert-driven prescriptive and narrative nonfiction that helps people lead better lives and offers fresh insight into human behavior, societal trends, and the forces shaping modern life, across topics ranging from health and wellness to relationships, work, technology, art, fashion, and urban culture.

Born in China and raised in Québec and Massachusetts, Laurie-Maude studied Culture and Politics and Global Business at Georgetown University. After graduating, she worked briefly in advertising before joining UTA in 2021. She now lives in New York. In her free time, you can find her getting into street photography, roaming Prospect Park for the perfect sunny spot, and trying to turn any day into one spent by the ocean.
