Picture books

• Smart humor that works for both children and adults
• Lyrical stories with a culturally specific point of view
• Historical nonfiction about underrepresented topics and people (I would love a book about the negative environmental impact of AI data centers on its surrounding communities)
• (I also have trouble resisting a cute animal!)

Graphic novel

• Speculative and SFF (like ON A SUNBEAM and SQUIRE)
• Anything swoonworthy or with a strong romance plotline
• Cute, character driven stories for younger readers (bonus points if it’s fantastical/magical!)
• Genre bending/mashing
• Heartrending and uplifting memoirs

Novels

• High concepts with literary writing!
• Distinct and standout voices
• Romance and romcoms
• Literary coming of age with a strong concept (like LIBERTAD, PATRON SAINTS OF NOTHING, and LAST NIGHT AT THE TELEGRAPH CLUB)
• Historical fiction that feels fresh and subversive in its perspective

Nonfiction

• Critical, well-researched books with anti-colonial, anti-imperial, and anti-capitalist themes
• History is a huge plus! Historiography is even better!
• (I would love a book about how US interventionism impacted/impacts Central America!!)

I am especially interested in stories by/about traditionally underrepresented communities. Projects by authors of color, queer/trans authors, and disabled authors please! I am also always interested in stories set in the Southwest and the US/Mexico borderlands.
