My Manuscript Wish List®
I’ve been with Tor Publishing Group since 2015, where I’ve had the opportunity to work with many talented and bestselling authors, as well as major franchises including The Wheel of Time and Dune.
I am currently on the lookout for high concept commercial fiction that crosses over into speculative (for both Tor and Wildthorn), in the vein of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil,  The Book Eaters, The Everlasting, and The Ministry of Time. (And while it just barely crosses into genre, novels that read like Remarkably Bright Creatures.)
Like many people, I’ve been reading a lot of feel good fiction, and my inbox is always open to a fun cozy fantasy, as well quirky fantasy tales centered on unusual protagonists like Dreadful and Starter Villain. Last year I asked for “anything similar to the anime Frieren, which combined love, loss, and an adventure quest that that had me laughing and crying” and I’m still on the hunt for that. I’m also open to the story/character centered LitRPG.
For more classic fantasy, I love a good heist novel in the vein of Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows, as well as grittier adventures with darker themes like Joe Abercrombie’s The Devils and James Islington The Will of the Many. I’ll never say no to reading a chunky epic fantasy, but it needs to bring something new to the category, and make every word and page count. Bonus points to any fantasy novel that teaches me about a skill or profession.
And while my focus is currently on fantasy and high concept crossovers, I’m always open to exceptional science fiction, both grounded scifi thrillers as well as character driven, galaxy-spanning stories filled with empathy and difficult choices.
In all categories mentioned above, I’m always open to, and looking to see more manuscripts from the points of view of erased and underrepresented voices.
