I am a children’s book editor looking to acquire in the chapter book, middle grade, and YA space.

I love stories with a lot of grit and honesty and am always on the hunt for authors who are skilled at exploring tough topics in a gentle way. Honest relationships (friendships/family relationships/romantic relationships) are my current kryptonite. The intricacies of them, how they grow, how they end, and the ways in which they shape us. I tend to lean into books that feel very commercial, but have great substance in between the lines. I am a sucker for a sassy, witty, perhaps even sometimes unreliable narrator.

My tastes are pretty eclectic. I adore mystery, suspense, and definitely some whimsy (which includes spooky magic!). But, I will try pretty much any kind of story, so long as the writing is strong and the characters are well developed.

I am really looking to build a list predominantly made up of own voices stories, about BIPOC characters. I am Latinx and very passionate about diversity on my list.

Some of my favorites growing up were Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt, The Outsiders/That Was Then, This Is Now by S. E. Hinton, Everworld series, The Animorphs series, in the Attic and most other V.C Andrews. Some of my favorite as an adult are Counting by Sevens, The First Rule of Punk, and anything by Rebecca Stead.
